Description

Over the past decade, dental implants have become the gold standard in tooth replacement, with osseointegrated implants reigning supreme. However, these implants present certain limitations, notably the absence of the periodontal ligament (PDL). In response to this challenge, innovative periodontal ligament implants, known as ligaplants, have emerged. By combining tissue engineering principles with cutting-edge implant materials, ligaplants offer a promising alternative to traditional implants, showcasing superior biological performance and potentially extending prosthetic life.Dental implantology has witnessed a transformative shift over the last ten years, with osseointegrated implants dominating the landscape of tooth replacement. Despite their widespread adoption, these implants face inherent drawbacks, chief among them being the lack of a periodontal ligament (PDL).The development of ligaplants, characterized by a meticulously designed periodontal ligament, represents a groundbreaking solution to address this limitation.
